The 2021 World Wide Technology Championship gets underway from El Camaleón Golf Course in Mexico on Thursday, Nov. 4. One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2021 World Wide Technology Championship: Justin Thomas, a 14-time PGA Tour champion and the odds-on favorite, stumbles this week and doesn’t even crack the top three. Thomas had a disappointing finish compared to his lofty standards in his only start of the 2021-22 season, finishing T-18 at the CJ Cup. A final round 64 propelled Thomas to a top-20 finish in that event. 

The 28-year-old is often among the best putters on the PGA Tour, but he’s been extremely inconsistent with the flat stick early this season. In fact, Thomas enters the 2021 World Wide Technology Championship ranked 207th in total putting (316.3) and 197th in strokes gained: putting (-.743). Thomas also ranks 62nd in greens in regulation percentage (72.22) and 91st in scoring average (71.068). He’s not a strong pick to win it all and there are far better values in the World Wide Technology Championship 2021 field.

Another surprise: Scottie Scheffler, a 30-1 long shot, makes a strong run at the title. Scheffler has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. 

Scheffler certainly has the game to finish near the top of the leaderboard this week. The 25-year-old secured eight top-10 finishes last season, and he enters this week’s event ranked inside the top-25 in birdie average (5.83), greens in regulation percentage (75.00) and strokes gained: putting (.807). If he’s striking the ball well this week, he’ll have a great shot at finishing on top of the leaderboard at El Camaleón.
