Xavi Hernandez was officially unveiled as Barcelona manager on Monday at the Camp Nou in front of thousands of supporters who turned out to see the return of the club legend.
President Joan Laporta was of course in attendance as Xavi signed his contract on the Camp Nou pitch and then posed for photographs.
It was quite an emotional day as supporters chanted Xavi’s name and celebrated the return of one of the club’s most famous sons.
Barcelona will now be hoping Xavi can help turn the club’s fortunes around after a difficult start to the season under Ronald Koeman. The new coach admitted afterwards in his press conference his mind is already on his first game as Barca boss.
“We are already thinking about the Espanyol game. We have a derby at home. We will prepare to win it,” he said. Espanyol visit the Camp Nou on November 20.
