Guwahati (Assam) [India], November 6 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday stated that Assam and Meghalaya will work with the Indian Army to rework the Umiam lake right into a world-class venue for aquatic sports.
He stated that the first-ever three-day Rising Sun Water Fest 2022 held at Umiam Sports Complex in Meghalaya has taken the water and adventurous sports activities altogether to a brand new peak.
Speaking on the closing ceremony of the fest at Umiam in Meghalaya, Sarma stated, “The fest has provided a unified platform to different clubs and sports persons to showcase their sporting skills.”
Thanking the organizer specifically Eastern Command of the Indian Army, Gajraj Corps and Red Horns Division for organising the fest, Chief Minister Sarma stated that Umiam Lake the place the fest is held will likely be remodeled into a horny tourism hub.
“In future also for the promotion and patronization of rowing and other aquatic sports activities, Assam and Meghalaya will have to take decisive steps. Both the states will have to put in concerted efforts to promote water sports in the region,” Sarma stated.
Seeking Meghalaya Government’s assist, Sarma stated, “The governments of both states will work hand in hand with the help of the Indian Army to transform Umiam into a world-class venue for aquatic sports activities.”
He additionally hoped that with the unfold of this fest, the socio-economic and infrastructural growth of the area will go to a distinct stage.
