The World Health Organisation (WHO) has praised the efforts made to contain the spread of Covid-19 in Dharavi, one of the world’s largest slums, underscoring the need for community engagement to turn the pandemic around.

At a virtual press conference on Friday, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said there were many examples from around the world that had shown that even if the outbreak was very intense, it could still be brought under control.
“Some of these examples are Italy, Spain and South Korea, and even Dharavi—a densely packed area in the megacity of Mumbai,” he said. — PTI
