The first characteristic movie directed by a Christian priest in Kerala is prepared for launch. With a title denoting the Malayalam vowel that sounds ‘IRU’, the movie helmed by Fr Varghese Lal is predicated on Shakespeare’s basic play ‘Othello’.

Fr Lal, who belongs to Puthoor in Kottarakkara, is at present engaged in analysis on the subject ‘Cinema and media.’ He cherished cinema since childhood and created some brief movies throughout his time on the seminary. When these brief movies had been acknowledged, the priest started taking movies significantly.

Fr Lal has an MA in Cinema with the third rank from St Joseph College of Communication at Kurishimmoodu and an MPhil from MG University’s School of Letters.

‘IRU’ is scripted by Dr Jose Okay Manuel, director of MG University’s School of Letters. Noted actor and director Sidhartha Siva has dealt with the cinematography and enhancing of the film.
