Similar to how the feature works on Telegram, WhatsApp users on iOS might soon be able to send short video messages to others.

WhatsApp recently released a new Windows app that looks and feels like its mobile counterpart, loads faster and lets users host group video calls with up to 8 people and audio calls with up to 32 participants. A recent report by WABetaInfo suggests that the developers are working on a new feature that will let iPhone users send short video messages of up to 60 seconds.

While the feature is currently unavailable to even those on the beta version of the app, it looks like the ability to send short video messages will work similarly to how users send audio messages. This means all you have to do is tap and hold the camera button while recording the video message.

One thing to note here is that these video messages will be end-to-end encrypted and users won’t be able to save or forward these messages, but WhatsApp might allow users to take screenshots. As of now, it is not unknown if and when WhatsApp will roll out the video message feature to everyone, so it might take a while before it is rolled out to everyone.

Earlier this month, WhatsApp rolled out several new features like the ability to approve group participants, split screen view on Android powered tablets, call link for Windows and more.
