Celebs, gaming firm get notices for ‘misleading’ advert | India News

NEW DELHI: The client safety watchdog has slapped notices on gaming firm Lotus 365 and three celebrities, together with actors Nawazuddin Siddique and Urvashi Rautela, for endorsing the corporate’s “misleading” commercial. The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has sought response of the agency and celebrities earlier than initiating motion towards them.
Sources stated the CCPA took suo motu cognisance of the commercial revealed in newspapers and on on-line platforms, which claimed the agency is “India’s most trusted sports exchange since 2015”. They added that the corporate has been requested to furnish particulars of the proof of its claims and the celebrities endorsing it have additionally been requested to reply how they discovered the corporate’s claims are right earlier than endorsing them.
The client affairs ministry had requested celebrities to hold out “specific due diligence” whereas endorsing services or products.
