A chemical plant within the Houston space caught hearth on Friday, sending large plumes of smoke into the sky.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office stated the hearth was at a Shell USA Inc facility in Deer Park, a suburb east of Houston.

Officers acquired a service name simply after 3pm on Friday to assist divert visitors across the plant, Harris County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Thomas Gilliland stated.

The metropolis of Deer Park stated in an advisory that there was no shelter-in-place order for residents.

Fire crews from the plant and close by vegetation have been responding, in addition to the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office, who’s main the response, Mr Gilliland stated.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated in a tweet his company was responding to calls about “some type of explosion”.
