SIMCOE COUNTY HEALTH COALITION

The Simcoe County Health Coalition (SCHC) is gravely involved with the present authorities’s plans to transform our native public hospitals’ core providers into for-profit hospitals and clinics.

Similarly, the SCHC is disturbed by the federal government’s expedition of the passing of Bill 60, which is able to open the door to additional privatization, the decreasing of high quality of care requirements, deregulation of health-care professions, lack of accountability, and lack of transparency. Without query, this could severely harm all native public hospitals and the supply of well being care in small and rural cities.

With the Ontario Health Coalition, the SCHC has organized an Ontario-wide, citizen-run referendum and is mobilizing with different coalitions to garner votes throughout the province. Voting within the referendum will give a transparent voice to thousands and thousands of Ontarians who oppose the privatization of our hospital providers. The vote will happen all through May, with the principle voting days on May 26 and 27.

Across Ontario, there are greater than 500 voting stations to this point, with extra coming day by day. The Simcoe County Health Coalition is asserting polling stations in a number of areas of Simcoe County, as a part of this referendum.

Simcoe County residents aged 16 or older who haven’t already voted within the referendum are invited to vote at a polling station from the checklist or go to www.simcoecountyhealthcoalition.org for up-to-date data and advance ballot dates and places.

Ontario residents who can’t attend an in-person polling station could vote on-line at www.PublicHospitalVote.ca.

The Simcoe County Health Coalition can also be searching for volunteers to workers polling stations and distribute leaflets.
