A courtroom in Thiruvananthapuram sentenced a person to life in jail and fined him Rs 60,000 on Tuesday for murdering his spouse so he may wed one other woman.

Joy Antony, an Anad resident, was given the suitable quantity of punishment by the capital’s Additional Sessions Court for killing his spouse Sunitha.

The offence happened in August 2013. Sunitha was burned after Joy used a hand tiller to hurt her.

The Nedumangad Police obtained a report in regards to the incident. The courtroom heard testimony from 26 witnesses and not less than 23 items of proof.

Joy was charged with the homicide in addition to tampering with the proof.
