More than 100 firefighters battled towering flames and thick smoke from a seven-storey blaze in central Sydney on Thursday as the hearth service warned it was spreading.

“The building is starting to collapse, while the inferno is beginning to spread to several neighbouring buildings, including residential apartments,” Fire and Rescue NSW mentioned in an announcement.

The whole prime ground wall leaned over and crashed in items into the road beneath, fireplace service video confirmed, because the constructing glowed orange with flames.

Hoses poured water down the constructing, all of its home windows lit by flames.

The carcass of a flaming van was parked in entrance.

Images posted on social media confirmed flames virtually as excessive because the constructing itself capturing into the sky.

Emergency providers mentioned they deployed greater than 100 firefighters, with 20 fireplace vans, who have been “working to contain and extinguish the blaze” on Randle Street close to the town’s Central Station.

“The public is urged to avoid the area as firefighting operations continue,” the hearth service mentioned, because the sound of emergency car sirens echoed by the town streets.
