Five CAA Football Players Recognized On Athlon Sports FCS Preseason All-America Team

RICHMOND, Va. (May 31, 2023) – Five CAA Football gamers have been acknowledged on the Athlon Sports FCS Preseason All-America team for the 2023 season.

Recognized on the 28-member squad have been Monmouth junior operating again Jaden Shirden, New Hampshire senior operating again/returner Dylan Laube, New Hampshire junior defensive lineman Josiah Silver, William & Mary senior linebacker John Pius and Richmond senior linebacker Tristan Wheeler.

Shirden led FCS in dashing in 2022 with 1,722 yards and 13 touchdowns. A finalist for the Walter Payton Award because the nation’s prime offensive participant, he ran for over 100 yards in 9 video games and topped the 200-yard mark in 4 contests.

Laube was the FCS chief in all-purpose yards (194.3 ypg) final season and obtained All-America accolades from seven organizations. He ran for 1,205 yards and 15 touchdowns and in addition excelled as a returner, averaging 25.8 ypr on kickoffs and 13.7 ypr on punts.

Silver tallied 55 tackles, 8.5 sacks and 17.5 tackles for loss. The All-America defensive finish recorded no less than one deal with for loss in 11 of 13 video games and had 10 contests with no less than 4 complete stops.
