Five individuals have died and 12 others taken to hospital after a truck collided with a bus in Hokkaido in northern Japan, based on native media studies.

Police mentioned the truck may need strayed into oncoming visitors, Kyodo information company reported.

The bus was carrying 15 passengers on the time of the accident, which occurred on Sunday.

Video from broadcaster NTV confirmed the mangled wreckage of the 2 autos caught on the street within the aftermath of the crash.

The bus was travelling from Sapporo to Hakodate, whereas the truck was carrying pigs from Hakodate to Yakumo, Kyodo mentioned.
