A brand new police chief has been appointed in New York City, making him the primary Latino particular person within the function.

Edward Caban was sworn in Monday because the forty sixth police commissioner. He had beforehand been serving as first deputy commissioner after former Commissioner Keechant Sewell resigned final month.
