HOUSTON – HCU head baseball coach Lance Berkman has been chosen for induction into the Houston Sports Hall of Fame as a part of the group’s 2024 class, introduced the Harris County – Houston Sports Authority on Thursday.
Berkman, coming into his third season because the Huskies head coach, was a five-time all-star throughout a 15-year Major League Baseball profession that included 12 seasons with the Houston Astros. One of one of the best swap hitters to play the sport, Berkman completed his MLB profession batting .293 with 1,234 RBI, 1,146 runs scored, 366 residence runs and 422 doubles with a .537 slugging share.
The Huskies’ skipper performed collegiately on the town at Rice. An all-American for the Owls, Berkman was chosen within the first spherical of the MLB draft by the Astros with the 16th general choice in 1997.
Berkman is joined within the 2024 class by former Houston Comets star Cynthia Cooper and yet one more, but unnamed, honoree.
