The greatest AI trade gamers — Google, Meta, OpenAI and Stability AI — didn’t reply to, or turned down, NPR’s requests for remark.
But Yacine Jernite, who leads the machine studying and society staff on the AI developer platform Hugging Face, says that even when these instruments work very well, that would not be such a foul factor.
“We see them as very much a positive development,” Jernite says.
Jernite says knowledge must be broadly accessible for analysis and improvement. But AI corporations must also respect artists’ needs to decide out of getting their work scraped.
