Panaji: Goa has recorded a 300% rise in cyber crime circumstances since 2020, statistics of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) have revealed.

As per NCRB, from 2020 to 2022, a complete of 166 cyber crime circumstances have been reported in Goa — 40 circumstances in 2020, 36 in 2021 and 90 in 2022.

Goa police arrested 98 individuals throughout this era. Out of 166 circumstances, solely 39 circumstances have been chargesheeted, acknowledged NCRB. The bureau acknowledged that no individual has been convicted in cyber crime circumstances between 2021 and 2022.

The Citizen Financial Cyber Frauds Reporting and Management System has been developed as part of the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal, the Union ministry of dwelling affairs (MHA) mentioned.

“This module provides an integrated platform where all stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies of states/UTs, all major banks and financial intermediaries, payment wallets, crypto exchanges and e- commerce companies, work in tandem to ensure that quick, decisive, and system-based effective action is taken to prevent the flow of money from the victim’s account to the cyber fraudster’s account. The money thus seized is then restored to the victim following due legal process,” MHA mentioned.
