ISTANBUL — Nine mine staff have been trapped underground after a landslide at a gold mine in Turkey’s jap Anatolia area, based on Turkish authorities.
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said Tuesday the federal government believes the employees have been trapped when the Copler mine within the mountainous Erzincan province collapsed at 2:28 p.m. native time.
He mentioned 400 personnel from the nationwide catastrophe reduction company have been on the scene working to achieve the employees underneath the rubble.
Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said on X, previously Twitter, that he was headed to the realm to coordinate the rescue efforts.
The Copler mine’s operator, Anagold Madencilik, mentioned in a press release the well being and security of its workers and contractors are the highest precedence, according to The Associated Press.
Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc said state prosecutors are investigating the incident.
