As per a report within the Times of India, each Iyer and Kishan are anticipated to be omitted from the checklist of centrally contracted gamers for the 2023-24 season. One of the explanations behind this choice is reportedly their absence from home cricket regardless of the board’s insistence.

“The selectors, led by Ajit Agarkar, has almost finalised the list of centrally contracted players for the 2023-24 season too, which the BCCI will announce soon.

“Kishan and Iyer are prone to be excluded from that checklist, as each have not been enjoying home cricket regardless of the BCCI’s diktat to take action,” a source told the paper.

The paper also quoted a source close to Iyer saying that the middle-order batter was left out of the last three Tests against England due to a back problem.

Iyer was “excluded from India’s squad for the final three Tests as a precautionary measure, after he complained of a again downside.” “Patel’s electronic mail to the BCCI was written after the second Test towards England. Since then, a again downside has bothered Iyer,” the source said. “Iyer was one among India’s top-performing batsmen within the ODI World Cup in India final 12 months. He will not lose the contract simply because he missed the odd Ranji match.”

As far because the 2022-23 central contract goes, Ishan Kishan was positioned within the C class, whereas Shreyas Iyer was in B, incomes Rs 1 crore and three crores respectively.
