It’s looking very positive for the re-opening of the MEC in the near future. Things have a way of changing very quickly in these times, but provided the pandemic numbers in NSW hold and do not worsen substantially, we are on the road to re-opening. I can’t provide details on a date or event that will see us open the doors again, but I can let you know about the process of preparing for that day. We have been working on a COVID-safe plan that will ensure that our patrons and staff are confident that it is safe to attend group gatherings at the MEC again. We will inform and demonstrate that we are following and enforcing safety procedures that have been developed through consultation with health professionals, theatre administrators and relevant government authorities. We’ll be in touch with the public through emails, letters and social media, to let you know about important new changes to the way we’ll be operating. Most importantly, we want to assure you that we will welcome you back through the doors focussing on your safety, trust and enjoyment. In order for us to do this most effectively, we need a little bit of help from you. We have a survey that asks questions like “What shows are you missing the most?”, and “Would you be interested in watching a live MEC show streamed to your home, rather than attending it in person?”. Questions like these will give us an indication of the types of shows to look at in future, and the ways in which we can deliver those shows to audiences. We realise that it’s sometimes best to go to the source (our audiences) and ask for frank feedback and suggestions. We don’t just ask you to pick an option from multiple choice, we’re also very interested in the comments that you’re invited to submit after each question.
