Even though the death rate remains a huge concern, on the positive side, the number of COVID-19 recoveries has crossed the 1 lakh mark in Mumbai city. With the rise of 1132 new cases on Wednesday, the active cases now stand at 19,064. Mumbai’s toll has also increased to 6,943 with 50 more losing their lives to the virus. Whereas, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) region has seen its toll shooting up by 99 to 11,061. Meanwhile, the state notched 344 COVID deaths and recorded 12,712 new cases. Also, a total of 13,408 recovered patients returned home, taking the total number of discharged patients to 381,843 to date. Today, a record single-day spike of 66,999 COVID-19 cases pushes India’s virus caseload to 23.96 lakh, while death toll climbs to 47,033.
