Music streaming app Resso is set to celebrate Indonesia’s 75^th Independence Day by supporting local musicians through a series of virtual concerts and online fund-raising.

Dubbed #RESSOnited, the virtual concerts will take place from Aug. 17 to 19 at 8 p.m., featuring six Indonesian performers, namely Rahmania Atrini, The Panturas, Rizky Febian, Reality Club, Fourtwnty and Oslo Ibrahim x Romantic Echoes. Links to the concerts will be shared on the app’s social media platforms.

“These virtual concerts can be enjoyed by the public, including those who haven’t downloaded the app,” said Resso Indonesia’s head of music and content, Christo Putra, during a press conference Friday. “Hopefully they will download Resso after watching the concerts.”

Christo said  the aforementioned performers had been selected for their diverse genres and the amount of listeners streaming their songs on the app. “We want Resso to bring together established and emerging musicians, so there’ll be no gap between them. We want them to unite to support the Indonesian music industry,” he said.

Aside from enjoying the concerts, people can also support Indonesian musicians by creating playlists and sharing them on social media to give more exposure to the musicians. Selected creators will be announced during the concerts to receive exclusive merchandise.

Resso has also collaborated with crowdfunding platform BenihBaik.com to raise funds for music communities, especially music event crew who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, through a campaign dubbed Gerakan Tahunan Gondangdia. The campaign was initiated by friends Dewi Andarini and Marshal Kamil with a target to raise Rp 20 million (US$1341.63).  

Launched in March, Resso enables users to listen to their favorite songs, interact with their favorite musicians in the same app and share them on social media in creative ways. The app is available for download at Play Store and App Store. (wng)
