DELAWARE – In Delaware, the group DC Health has removed the state from their list of high-risk states for travel during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the President and CEO of Beebe Healthcare, Dr. David Tam, this may be a result of a decline in the number of people hospitalized for COVID-19.

He says within the last two weeks there’s been a consistent decline.

Dr. Tam adds that this is a result of people washing their hands and wearing their face coverings religiously.

He says people are also staying away from large crowds as well.

He adds that the removal of the state’s name is an indicator that the health system is taking the right steps to improve the health of the community.

“It’s important because overall, it gives an indicator of how well we as a health system here especially at Beebe Healthcare are doing to do the things that we can to communicate, to educate and to make sure that people are aware,” said Dr. Tam.

Dr. Tam tells 47ABC this reduction in the number of people hospitalized for the virus will help businesses during the pandemic as well.
