It feels like only days since the conclusion of the last campaign but with the release of the 2020/21 Premier League fixtures today, a new season is almost upon us – and we’ll be showing 58 games exclusively live right here on BT Sport!

Champions Liverpool begin their title defence against returning Premier League giants Leeds, pitting Jurgen Klopp against Marco Bielsa in what promises to be an intriguing tactical battle between two of the game’s greatest minds.

Manchester City take on Aston Villa at the Etihad in their opening fixture, while Chelsea and Manchester United travel away to Brighton and Burnley respectively to kick off their league campaigns.

It’s a London derby opener for Fulham who face Arsenal on their welcome back to the top division, while Tottenham face Everton in a fiesty battle between Champions League-winning managers Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti.

BT Sport will be bringing you a feast of football from the Premier League with 58 games exclusively live over the coming months.  TV picks for the opening rounds of the competition will be confirmed next week.

When is the first day of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

The Premier League football season gets back underway on Saturday 12 September.

Ordinarily, the season begins in early August but last year’s lengthy pause during the coronavirus lockdown has meant a later start for the forthcoming campaign.

The Premier League has also accomodated an agreed 30-day break for all clubs involved in the latter stages of the 2019/20 European club competitions, meaning both Manchester City and Manchester United’s opening day fixtures have been postponed. 

A date for the rescheduled games will be announced in due course.

The opening weekend’s matches for both Chelsea and Wolves will take place on Monday 14 September.

When is the last day of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

 This year’s schedule has been crammed into a shorter timeframe than usual with next summer’s delayed European Championships on the horizon.

It means that despite beginning the season a month later, the competition is set to finish around the same time as normal with Sunday 23 May scheduled to be the final day of the campaign.

And on Sunday evening, live on BT Sport 1 HD and BT Sport Ultimate from 7pm, it’s the big one as French giants PSG seek to clinch their first ever Champions League trophy against free-scoring Bayern Munich in Lisbon.
