CHENNAI: The health condition of playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who is suffering from Covid-19, remains critical, said a medical bulletin issued by MGM Healthcare in Chennai on Thursday night.
“Our multi-disciplinary team of clinicians have been actively collaborating with national and international experts and continue to closely monitor his vital parameters,” said the bulletin issued by hospital assistant director Dr Anuradha Baskaran.
SPB is on ventilator and ECMO. While the ventilator uses pressure to blow oxygenated air into your lungs, the ECMO pumps blood to a heart-lung machine, which removes carbon dioxide and returns oxygen-filled blood back to tissues. ECMO allows the blood to “bypass” the heart and lungs, allowing these organs to rest and heal.
