Android tablets rarely draw huge crowds, but you might find a use for well-priced and capable slate. If that is the case, you may be interested in the new Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 (2020). It’s not official yet, but Dutch retailer CentralPoint jumped the gun and published the product page, complete with specs and prices.
The base model starts at €235. This gets you 32 GB of built in storage and Wi-Fi only connectivity. If you want 64 GB storage, add €35, the premium for LTE connectivity is just under €60. This means that the fully-loaded version costs €323.
The tablet has a 10.4” LCD with 2,000 x 1,200 px resolution. There’s no S Pen support by the looks of it, so if a stylus is important, you’ll have to pick one of the other Samsung slates (mostly S-series, but also the Tab A 8.0 (2019)).
Anyway, the tablet comes with Android 10 and One UI out of the box. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 662 chipset, which is a bit faster and more power efficient than the Exynos 7904 found inside the Tab A 10.1 (2019). It’s an 11 nm chip (compared to 14 nm) and has four Cortex-A73 based “big” CPU cores instead of just two.
There’s a 7,040 mAh battery inside, but the store didn’t publish info on charging speed. Also, there’s a single camera on the back of the slate (although the Google Play Console claims a dual 13 + 5 MP camera). For the bodywork there are three colors to choose from: gray, gold and silver.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 (2020) is expected to become available on September 11 in the Netherlands and Belgium. Presumably, there will be an announcement before now and then, unless CentralPoint posted the date wrong.
