() (OTCMKTS:THBRF) said Wednesday that production has begun on the fifth season of the hit series Kim’s Convenience.
The CBC comedy, which also streams on and on cable stations around the world, is set to premiere in winter 2021. CBC, Canada’s national broadcaster, has already renewed the series for a sixth season.
“After months of Zoom calls, the Kim’s family is finally together again – as close as we can safely be in these challenging times,” said Ivan Fecan, the show’s executive producer. “We are looking forward to bringing a whole new season of love and laughter to our audiences.”

Kim’s Convenience was recently named a “perfect quarantine distraction” by Oprah magazine, Thunderbird said in a statement, and recognized by TV Guide as one of the feel good streaming options available. The show has won multiple awards in Canada as well as internationally in South Korea.
Season five will cover the Kim family’s experience as its matriarch Umma (Jean Yoon) deals with a “difficult medical diagnosis” and patriarch Appa (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) stepping in as primary caregiver.
