The Express community newspaper is pleased to announce that Michael Kresovich, an area resident and a product of St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy at Boalsburg, is its new sports editor.
Kresovich attends Penn State University seeking a bachelor’s degree in Digital and Print Journalism with a Business and Liberal Arts Minor.
He resides in Bellefonte.
Kresovich’s primary sports beat will be Central Mountain athletics, while also rotating coverage of area schools, writing features on student-athletes and coaches, plus game previews.
“I am deeply passionate about writing and sports and I enjoy covering sports at all levels. I approach each with a lot of passion by being myself at the best I can be. Outside of writing and sports, I am a tutor for high school students and a fitness trainer for aspiring athletes,” Kresovich said.
Kresovich already has experience covering local sports.
He has worked as an intern at the Centre County Gazette as a sports reporter, while also covering local high school and Penn State sports.
He has written about basketball, track and field, football, golf, lacrosse, baseball, cross-country, swimming and diving, tennis, and soccer.
He also did work for www.HappyValley.com, covering Nittany Lions’ men’s basketball, providing post-game recaps, live-tweeted game updates from Twitter, and projections.
Moreover, Michael was involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes at St. Joe’s, along with Radio Club and Mock Trial.
Michael also has worked at Beaver Stadium as a grounds crew member, at Red Horse Tavern in Pleasant Gap, and at the former Champs Sports and Sammi’s Restaurant.
His father, also Michael, is a 1984 graduate of Lock Haven University, having played football for the Bald Eagles. His father also is a PIAA official for basketball and football.
“We’re very excited that Michael is taking over Express sports coverage. He has roots in the area and that matters,” said Bob Rolley, publisher of The Express and www.lockhaven.com. We hope coaches, fans and players alike reach out to Michael as he builds relationships in our communities to write about and uplift our student-athletes.”
Michael can be reached by email at mkresovich@lockhaven.com.
