Arsenal could be set for a major transfer blow as Inter Milan have emerged as a potential destination for Atletico Madrid midfielder, Thomas Partey.

According to AS, Inter could be prepared to offer Ivan Perisic to the Spanish club in a bid to convince them to part ways with the Ghanaian midfield star.

The midfield enforcer is said to have a release-clause of around £50m in his contract and it is well-known that Arsenal and Mikel Arteta have made Partey their key midfield target this summer.

But the latest report from AS could send a bit of panic into the north London outfit. The offer from the Serie A giants is a fresh piece of news and given the form of Perisic last season for Bayern Munich, Atletico may be keen on doing a deal.

Furthermore, Diego Simeone has close ties to Inter Milan and could well be more open to selling one of his star players to his former club.

The Gunners, then, will be keeping a close eye on the situation and could well have to make their move quickly if they wish to land Partey.

This was always going to be the risk in a deal which has run on and on this summer without ever really looking like reaching an end point as yet.

Arsenal are seemingly desperate to land Partey and to lose out on him now would be a massive blow to Mikel Arteta. It would be a massive shame but the pressure is now on for the club to either back their man, or move some out of the door to fund the move.

If the Gunners do miss out on Partey, it will go down like a lead balloon amongst supporters.
