The Texas highschool athletic affiliation is investigating an incident between a referee and pupil athlete throughout a soccer sport Friday night time.

Whitney High School was competing towards James Madison High School at Seagoville Stadium in Dallas when a Whitney soccer participant, Trey Haynes, collided with the referee. The sports activities official aggressively pushed again and tore off Haynes’ helmet, in response to a video shared by Haynes’ mom. Haynes can be the son of the Whitney soccer coach David Haynes.

“How is this allowed from a ref!” Haynes’ mom, Karla Haynes, wrote on X. “You literally assaulted him!”

The University Interscholastic League mentioned on Saturday it’s conscious of the incident. The UIL didn’t present any info on the identification of the referee as of Saturday afternoon.

“This situation is of great concern to us and we are actively looking into the matter,” the UIL mentioned in an announcement.
