A blood-red full moon is about to rise within the sky on the morning of Election Day, November 8, throughout the US.

As voters solid their ballots for the final election, Earth’s shadow will solid a pink glow throughout the complete moon. It’s a complete lunar eclipse, typically known as a “blood moon,” and there will not be one other one till 2025.

The pink shade comes from the sunshine of all of the sunrises and sunsets occurring throughout the planet. That’s as a result of Earth’s shadow comes with a hoop — the ambiance, proper alongside the day-night break up. Sunlight passes by means of that ambiance, which bends it towards the moon. The pink portion of the sunshine spectrum is what makes it by means of to the opposite aspect.

“It’s as if all the world’s sunrises and sunsets are projected onto the moon,” NASA wrote in a blog post explaining the phenomenon.

“The more dust or clouds in Earth’s atmosphere during the eclipse, the redder the moon will appear,” NASA stated.

The blood moon shall be seen within the early morning hours throughout all of North and Central America, in accordance with NASA. People in Asia and Australia can catch the lunar massacre within the early night.

The complete eclipse — the pink blood moon — begins at 5:16 a.m. ET and lasts till the moon units at 6:41 a.m. ET.

“The parts of the moon outside the umbra [shadow] during the partial phases are almost as bright as an ordinary full moon, making the obstructed parts appear nearly black. But during totality, our eyes adjust and reveal a range of hues painted on the moon by all of Earth’s sunrises and sunsets,” NASA wrote.
