The Alpena Community College Cross-Country team ran well on Friday and came away with the runner-ip trophy at the Kirtland CC Invite. The four-mile race was held at Hanson Hills in Grayling and had six teams competing.
“One of our top goals this season is to be better today than we were yesterday, and to improve each race. When we do this, the season will be a huge success,” ACC Coach Mark Jacobs said. “My guys ran very well today and continue to impress me with their hard work and fantastic attitudes.”
John Siegert (Ludington) finished 7th overall with a time of 23:13. Teddy Peters (Onaway) followed Siegert with a time of 24:18 placing 10th overall. Following Peters were Musa Kubbah (Voinjama, Liberia) 25:04, Duncan Ross (Rogers City) 25:17, Nate Robey (Big Rapids) 25:32. Connor Bagnell (Memphis) 26:17, Runi Demirkol (Istanbul, Turkey) 27:39 and Yuki Nishibashi (Ostu, Japan (28:29).
The Lumberjacks next meet with be Saturday, Sept. 26 at Jackson.
