As the holiday season winds down, Adelaide’s West is gearing up to kickstart the new year with a bang as the much-anticipated Summer Festival 2024 returns for another round of family-friendly fun and entertainment.

The festival, which has become an annual highlight in the region, promises an array of exciting activities and events for all-ages.

Starting on the first Saturday of the year, January 6, 2024, and extending over six consecutive weeks, the Summer Festival have a diverse lineup of events with a commitment to providing free, family-friendly experiences.

From open-air cinemas to live music, giant water inflatables, mouthwatering food options, and the return of the popular ‘Touch-a-Truck’ event, the Summer Festival promises a memorable experience for all attendees.

Saturday, January 6 – Open Air Cinema

• Location: West Torrens Memorial Gardens, Hilton

The festival will commence with an enchanting open-air cinema experience under the starry night sky. Families can gather at West Torrens Memorial Gardens in Hilton to watch “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” (PG) on a massive 7.5-meter outdoor cinema screen. The evening will be filled with children’s entertainment, live music, a sausage sizzle, and food trucks to ensure a delightful start to the festival.

Saturday, January 13 – Open Air Cinema

• Location: West Torrens Memorial Gardens, Hilton

On the following Saturday, attendees can enjoy another enchanting night with great tunes and free children’s entertainment before a screening of the family favorite, “Paddington 2” (G) at 8:45 pm. Delicious treats from food trucks, a sausage sizzle, or personal picnics will set the perfect backdrop for an enjoyable evening.

Saturday, January 20 – All Together Now

• Location: West Torrens Memorial Gardens, Hilton

The festival’s third weekend will transform into a global music extravaganza with performances by Farhan Shah, Sun of Africa, and Jambu Loco, allowing attendees to tour the world through music. Kids can join in the fun with the Amazing Drumming Monkeys show, face painting, or circus tricks with PLAI.

Saturday, January 27 – Splash!

• Time: 9:30 am – 1:30 pm
• Location: Mellor Park, Lockleys

Families are invited to dive into the festival’s warm-weather favorite, “Splash!” This event features giant water slides and muddy activities by Climbing Tree, making it essential to bring bathers, towels, and a change of clothes. Delicious food, coffee, and ice cream will be available onsite, ensuring a day of refreshing fun for all ages.

Saturday, February 3 – Touch-a-Truck

• Location: Kings Reserve and Thebarton Community Centre, Torrensville

For the vehicle enthusiasts among us, “Touch-a-Truck” offers an exciting opportunity for kids of all ages to explore a wide variety of vehicles up close. Meet the people who drive them, ask questions, and satisfy your curiosity about how these machines work.

Saturday, February 10 – Fork on The Road presents The Kings Fork

• Location: Kings Reserve and Thebarton Community Centre, Torrensville

Concluding the festival with a delectable twist, “Fork on The Road” presents “The Kings Fork,” a foodie paradise featuring over 20 of Adelaide’s finest food trucks. This culinary extravaganza will also offer a range of delightful beverages. Live music, giant inflatable slides, and a free screening of “How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” (PG) inside Thebarton Community Centre at 5:30 pm will ensure a spectacular finish to the festival season.
