Afghan embassy says it’s stopping operations in Indian capital

NEW DELHI (AP) — India’s External Affairs Ministry is inspecting a letter from the Afghan Embassy that claims it plans to stop all operations within the Indian capital by Saturday, an official mentioned Friday.

India has not acknowledged the Taliban authorities which seized power in Afghanistan in August 2021. It evacuated its personal workers from Kabul forward of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan two years in the past and now not has a diplomatic presence there.

To date, the Afghan Embassy in New Delhi has been run by workers appointed by the earlier authorities of ousted Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, with permission from the Indian authorities.

The Afghan media outlet TOLO mentioned it had obtained the letter detailing the embassy’s grievances conveyed to the Indian External Affairs ministry.

The letter mentioned the embassy’s determination to completely stop all operations by the tip of September stems from its incapacity to take care of regular functioning as a result of “the absence of diplomatic consideration and systematic support” from the Indian External Affairs Ministry.

Last 12 months India despatched aid materials, together with wheat, medicines, COVID-19 vaccines and winter clothes to Afghanistan to assist with shortages there.
