AFLW star Tayla Harris has revealed she has a new job, having recently becoming a qualified marriage celebrant.

One of the most recognisable faces of the AFLW, the 24-year-old became the leading figure in women’s footy for taking a stance in 2019 against online trolls who targeted a photo of her in full flight.

Harris played at Brisbane for one year before joining Carlton as a marquee signing, where she spent four seasons.

The athletic forward was named in the AFLW All-Australian team in 2017 and 2018 but struggled for form with the Blues last season, managing only four goals from eight games.

At one stage it appeared possible Harris could sit out the next AFLW season to focus on her successful boxing career.

But after drawn-out contract negotiations, Harris was eventually traded to the Melbourne for the upcoming season.

As she embarks on pre-season training with the Demons, Harris has revealed she has added another job to her CV — as a qualified marriage celebrant.

“There’s not too many 24-year-olds, (with) tattoos (on both) hands and arms, willing to have a laugh with the couple so this is my niche,” she told Seven News.

“And if that’s you, I’m here for you.”

Harris has a section on her professional website dedicated to inquiries about obtaining her services as a celebrant.

Her bio reads: “Tayla Harris is an ordained celebrant officiating fun, creative and inclusive weddings.

“She is available to perform marriage ceremonies and MC your wedding.”

According to her website, Harris’ services include personalised ceremonies, ceremony staging and wedding choreography, professionally printed marriage certificate, management and facilitation of the legal process for marriage.

As for her football career, Harris said she was thrilled to join Melbourne and get stuck in to training, adding the chance to play with AFLW legend Daisy Pearce was a huge appeal.

“I think that was such huge part of wanting to be at the Melbourne footy club,” she said.

“Daisy’s someone I’ve looked up to forever.

“I’m feeling very accepted and looking forward to getting in to it.”

Harris is also a professional boxer but won’t contest any fights during the upcoming footy season and she will only be in the ring to train.

“Boxing for me is an escape of sorts and I think it’s a thing that only improves my mental state,” she said.

The next AFLW season will get underway in January.
