As with so many other events this year, the AMGH Foundation’s Gala planned for this September, had to be cancelled due to COVID-19.

Yet the Foundation isn’t going to let that stop them from finding creative ways to continue to support the healthcare needs of the community.

On Sept. 26, 2020, the AMGH Foundation will present “The Festivals That We Missed” Variety Show.

“When we started planning a virtual event, our committee was thinking about some of the other things we are missing because of the pandemic. What resounded with us, was all of the amazing festivals we would be missing this summer. This community has so much incredible talent and organizations who host these events,” shared David Mackechnie, Chair of the AMGH Foundation Board.

“We really wanted to give everyone a chance to enjoy some of the music that these festivals usually bring to our community. I am personally so excited for the amazing line up we are putting together.”

People will be entertained in the comfort of their home, by artists they could normally expect to see at the Celtic Festival, Canadiana Musicfest, Summerfest, Multicultural Festival, Music in the Fields, and others.

The event is a fundraiser, but just as importantly, it is about acknowledging the outstanding work and dedication of local frontline healthcare workers and hospital staff.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the strength and generosity of the community has been clear, through donations of PPE, providing meals for staff at the Hospital, and by supporting local businesses.

The Foundation hopes that this will be another opportunity for the community to demonstrate their support and appreciation.

“We want our healthcare workers and hospital staff to know that they are appreciated and that we are here to continue to support the work that they do to keep our community safe and healthy. The importance of having our hospital close to home, and supporting the care and services provided there, has never been more evident than in the last few months,” explains Shannon LaHay, Executive Director of the AMGH Foundation.

Keep an eye on the Foundation’s Facebook and website for updates and announcements over the coming weeks.

Opportunities also exist for sponsorship and silent auction donations. If you are able to help, please contact the Foundation at 519-524-8508 or amgh.foundation@amgh.ca
