NEW DELHI: Former information & broadcasting and higher education secretary Amit Khare has been appointed as adviser to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Khare has been appointed on a contractual basis for two years.
A 1985-batch IAS officer from Bihar-Jharkhand cadre, Khare assumed the charge of secretary, ministry of education (department of higher education) in December 2019.
Within a short time of his appointment, the National Education Policy 2020 was approved by the cabinet on 29 July 2020.
He had superannuated earlier this month.
