An English soccer participant is recovering after suffering a cardiac arrest and collapsing throughout a match over the weekend.

Luton Town Football Club mentioned captain Tom Lockyer was responsive by the point he was taken off the sector in a stretcher Saturday and transferred to a hospital.

The match towards AFC Bournemouth in Bournemouth, a coastal city about 100 miles southwest of London, was known as off.

“Tom is still undergoing tests and scans, and is awaiting the results before the next steps for his recovery are determined,” Luton Town said in a press release Sunday morning.

Earlier, the membership apologized to followers and thanked supporters for “the wonderful applause and singing of Locks’ name inside the stadium at such a difficult time.”

AFC Bournemouth said in a tweet that it was “relieved” to listen to that Lockyer was responsive after the incident.

“Our thoughts will continue to be with Tom and his family at this time,” the membership mentioned. “We’d like to thank all the medical staff for their quick action as well as everyone inside the stadium for their support and unity during a difficult moment.”

It’s not the primary time the 29-year-old defender has had a medical emergency on the pitch.

Lockyer told Sky Sports that he collapsed throughout a sport in May as a consequence of an irregular heartbeat — also referred to as an atrial flutter — however that he was given the “all-clear” to play once more a few week later.

He mentioned on the time that it was the “least severe heart condition you could have” and that he had a process to right it.
