The School District of Arcadia announced Friday it would move football to the spring and allow the other fall sports to continue this fall, per an official press release.
The release says that while the decision was not easy to make, “the administration and coaches felt that taking advantage of the modified season [flexibility] was in the best interest of the athletes and coaches.”
Football will develop a season in the coming months. The WIAA’s alternate fall season allows football to start March 8 and end May 3 of 2021.
The Raiders’ cross country and girls’ golf programs started practicing Monday and will continue. Both programs have a tentative season schedule. The boys soccer team will start practicing Sept. 8, but a season schedule has not been set. If they are unable to schedule one, the school would consider moving it to spring, as well.
Arcadia joins Black River Falls and G-E-T as Coulee Conference schools who made this same decision earlier this month.
