Arlie Gilbert Suggs, 85, was born July 10, 1935 to the late Vassar and Arlvesta (Hall) Gilbert in Pelham, Ga. She passed away peacefully on September 18, 2020.

She was educated in Steubenville City Schools. Arlie, was employed as a cook at the Federal Terrace and retired from Weirton Steel. She was a proud band mom and band camp Mother for the “best band in buckeye land”, Steubenville Big Red. After retirement, Arlie worked at The Vinson House of Mortuary in Steubenville, Ohio. She was a member of the La’Femme Progressive Woman’s Club. Arlie served as a member of Second Baptist Church’s Voices of Second and the Woman’s Usher Ministry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Margaret Gilbert, her husband Malachi Suggs, and three children Rhonda L. Moxley, Ricardo M. Suggs Sr., and Rodney Suggs and her niece Kim Vinson.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Lisa Suggs, son in law, Bruce Moxley all of Steubenville, Ohio. Her grandchildren: Shelva Suggs, Teriney Lucas, Ricardo Suggs Jr., Charles Henry Fuller, Jon’ta Lucas, Rickkesha Suggs Wise, and Nala Colliers, 16 grandchildren, a loving niece Pam Threet and many more relatives, friends and loved ones.

A public walk-through viewing will be held on Friday, September 25th from 5 PM until 7 PM at Vinson Mortuary, 711 North 5th Steubenville, OH. COVID guidelines will be enforced and mask will be mandatory. Due to COVID, a private ceremony with capacity limits will be held on Saturday for family.
