Banana Skincare Pack – How can banana help improve skin health?

Banana is not a common ingredient in store-bought cosmetic or skincare products, probably because the shelf-life of those products can be reduced due to the fruit. However, it can be used as a home remedy for better skin.

Banana is rich in vitamin A, a very important nutrient for the skin. It helps to lighten and brighten the skin, removing any darkness caused due to external factors and leaving you with a healthy glow.

Banana also has moisturizing properties in it, which helps your skin retain moisture. This will help you avoid stretchy skin, reduce risk of acne and pimples, and will you smooth skin.

How to use banana for a skincare pack?

Bananas can be used in multiple ways as a skincare pack. 

  • Mash a ripe banana in a bowl. Apply directly to your face, avoiding the eyes. Keep on for 15-20 minutes and wash off with normal water.
  • Mash a ripe banana. Add 2 tablespoons of raw milk. Apply to skin, especially concentrating it on parts of your body or face that are tanned. You are likely to see a difference in just one use.
  • Use a mashed banana with honey for a super-moisturising effect. However, people with oily skin should avoid this combination. This is best for people with dry skin, especially in the winter season. 
  • Add lemon juice and gram flour to one masked banana. Mix well and apply as a face pack. This will help people with clogged pores, blackhead and whitehead issues.
  • You may also rub a banana peel on the dark areas of your hands and legs such as elbows, ankles, knuckles, etc. 
  • You can also use a mashed banana as a hair mask.
