Vadodara: For the first time, e-sports has been made a part of the Commonwealth Games that is being held in England this year. A Gujarati has been appointed as the manager of the Indian contingent that is participating in the first-ever e-sports championship.
Yash Bhalawala, who is a badminton player and has done MBA in sports, has joined the team in Birmingham. He is managing two Indian teams — Rocket League Game Play and Dota.
Bhalawala, who is from Vadodara, said that e-sports is a subject of his interest and he is making efforts to develop the gaming environment. He is the secretary of E-sports Association of Gujarat and works in Sports Authority of Indian in New Delhi.
The Commonwealth Games Federation has entered into an exploratory partnership with the Global eSports Federation under which the championship is being held. Their aim is to test the possibilities of including eSports in such mega sports events.
