Canadian authorities beefing up the safety comes days after infamous Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) launched the ‘Death To India – Balkanize’ marketing campaign calling to ‘shut down Indian missions’ globally on September 25 to show “Modi regime’s nefarious designs to assassinate Khalistan Referendum Campaigners”.

SFJ is a banned terrorist organisation in India and murdered Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was part of it. However, the Canadian authorities is but to take any motion on it regardless of the group’s distinguished chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun issuing a menace to Indo-Canadian Hindus by asking them to return to India.

Previous cases of Indian consulates being attacked 

In the previous few months, there have been a number of cases of the Indian High Commission and consulates being focused by non-state actors.

In March, the Indian High Commission in London was focused by pro-Khalistani rioters who pulled down the Indian nationwide flag whereas agitating exterior the constructing.  

In July, Khalistan males attacked the Indian consulate in San Francisco, USA and set hearth to the compound which was luckily doused rapidly by the authorities.

This was the second occasion when the San Francisco consulate was attacked by the radicals. In March, in full public view, the pro-Khalistani protesters attacked and broken the consulate, prompting sharp condemnation from the Indian authorities and India-Americans, who demanded rapid motion in opposition to these answerable for it.

Delicate scenario in Ottawa

The escalation within the diplomatic standoff after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s ‘credible allegations’ is maybe answerable for the fragile legislation and order scenario in Ottawa presently.  

Trudeau stated his authorities was probing “credible allegations” that New Delhi might have had a distinguished function within the killing of Nijjar – a Canadian citizen, in keeping with him. 

“Canadian security agencies have been actively pursuing credible allegations of a potential link between agents of the Government of India and the killing of a Canadian citizen, Hardeep Singh Nijjar,” stated Trudeau in a press release to the House of Commons.

Nijjar was shot useless on June 18 by two unidentified males within the car parking zone of Guru Nanak Gurdwara Sahib in Surrey, Canada. 

Despite having made the allegations days in the past, the Trudeau administration is but to supply any ‘credible proof’, suggesting the Canadian PM might have overplayed his hand.
