FLINTON — Memories are made on homecoming, but Bellwood-Antis was producing all of the positive memories on Glendale’s homecoming Friday night at Dr. Roy F. Baker Field.

The now 5-0 Blue Devils dominated on both sides of the ball. They built a 35-0 halftime lead, amassing 374 total yards and 278 on the ground. The rock-solid B-A defense limited the Vikings to one first down and 16 total yards and picked off three passes in a 42-0 romp.

“I thought our kids did a really good job all-around, offensively and defensively,” B-A coach Nick Lovrich said. “I thought we flew to the ball. We did the things we wanted to do on offense. We spread the ball around.”

Blue Devil running back Connor Gibbons scored three rushing touchdowns. Cooper Guyer, Gaven Ridgway and Brandon Cherry also had rushing TDs. Quarterback Zach Pellegrine completed 7-of-9 passes for 96 yards.

Players of the game: Guyer, a nimble 6-0, 245-pound senior, used a spin to break into the open on a 21-yard touchdown run to make the score 21-0. The entire B-A defense limited the Vikings to one first down and 16 total yards.

Player of the game: Gibbons ran for 160 yards on 13 carries, scoring on runs of 14, 22 and 12. He also had a 53-yard run on the first play of the second half.

“I think today was the hardest I’ve seen (Gibbons) run all season,” Lovrich said. “He just seemed like he had an extra gear today. That’s something that later on down the road you need your backs to do that. I think he’s getting comfortable in the spot. I thought he played really well.”

Unsung heroes: The Bellwood-Antis offensive line opened up gaping holes.

Most vital statistics: The Blue Devils amassed 278 rushing yards and 374 total yards. The B-A defense picked off three passes.

Glendale coach Dave “Spank” Trexler: “Bellwood is Bellwood. Year in year out they’re consistently good. They’re well-coached. They’re a terrific program. And if you’re not ready to play, they’ll do what they do. My hat is off to them. They rolled. They don’t make mistakes. We weren’t ready to play.”

Notable: Suds Dubler, who was named homecoming king, and Zeke Dubler were held to a combined 1 yard on nine carries. … Aubrey Jasper was named the homecoming queen. … Sean Mallon, Guyer and Gaven Ridgway had B-A’s interceptions. … Eleven different Blue Devils had a rushing attempt.
