“We cannot overstate the importance of consistent compliance with the provincial continuous masking directive.

“Specifically, all staff, physicians and volunteers are required to mask continuously in all areas where they may come in contact with patients, families, visitors, or the public (e.g., elevator, common areas, and gift shops) . . .”

This is exactly the problem that concerns many patients. While they are absolutely required to wear masks themselves, they see nurses, doctors and other employees who don’t seem to care about the rules.

Staff members are spotted in the coffee shops without masks and failing to keep their distance. People at hospital reception desks are often unmasked, although they greet patients all day long. Unmasked staff routinely walk past or work near patient waiting areas.
