PETALING JAYA: Three new Covid-19 clusters cases have been detected around the country, with six reported cases so far.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said two positive cases have been detected each in the “Sepang Rumah Kongsi cluster”, the “Kuala Lumpur restaurant cluster”, and the “Kuching Jetty cluster”.
The two positive cases at the Sepang construction site involved an Indonesian and a Bangladeshi worker, the former being the index case and the latter a close contact of his.
A total of 96 people have been screened for the virus – including nine Malaysians – with 94 testing negative so far.
The restaurant cluster was detected at a Brickfields eatery, where two Indian nationals tested positive for the disease.
Dr Noor Hisham said a total of 250 people had been tested – 14 workers and 236 customers – with 248 people testing negative.
As for the Kuching Jetty cluster, both cases involved Indonesian nationals.
A total of 25 fishermen have been screened in this cluster, with 23 testing negative for Covid-19.
The cause of the infections in all three clusters is still under investigation, said Dr Noor Hisham in a statement on Sunday (July 19).
Fifteen new Covid-19 cases were reported on Sunday.
