Australian Brock Jarvis has mounted a stunning comeback to score a fifth-round TKO win over Alejandro Frias in his American boxing debut.
The 23-year-old, who is trained by Jeff Fenech, put his 19-0 record (17 knockouts) on the line in what was his first fight since signing with promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom.
It was a big opportunity for Jarvis to impress on a global stage and it looked on the brink of unravelling in the second round.

Frias went on the attack with a few heavy counter shots which sent Jarvis, who was an unbackable favourite, reeling into the ropes.
“Jarvis up against the ropes… this is a disaster for the Australian,” Todd Grisham said in commentary.
“He’s got to get out of there. What an upset this would be. Jarvis has never been in this kind of trouble before. This is incredible. They didn’t even list odds for this fight in Las Vegas.”
Former WBC light middleweight champion Sergio Mora commented that Frias almost looked stunned at the fact he was so close to finishing Jarvis in the second.
“Frias was actually shocked he was almost able to knock Jarvis out,” he said in commentary.
“He is on the brink of stopping him here.”
Jarvis was able to last the round and went on to gain control of the fight before cornering Frias with a flurry of punches, prompting referee Ed Collantes to call a stoppage.
It may have not been what everyone expected but Mora said that will actually work in the young Australian’s favour moving forward.
“You can see Jeff Fenech going to Alejandro’s corner and congratulating him because this is going to make Brock Jarvis a better fighter,” he said.
“He now knows what it’s like to be hurt. He’s the one who had to survive tonight.”
Two-weight world champion Jessica McCaskill agreed, branding Jarvis the “hero” of the night.
“He’s the hero tonight because he got through that second round, showed people he could shake it off and survive and that’s what you want in a new, up-and-coming fighter,” she said.
Fox Sports boxing reporter Ben Damon spoke to Fenech after the fight, who said he wants Jarvis to remain in the US and fight on the Teofimo Lopez-George Kambosos Jr. undercard.
He added that if Matchroom dictate a rematch for Frias, “Fenech/Jarvis are happy to do it”.
Speaking after the fight, Jarvis called it an “unbelievable experience” as he looks to build towards a world championship shot.
“I’ve got a lot to work on and I’ll just keep working on it,” he said.
“He caught me with some big shots but in times like that you’ve got to dig deep and show what your made of.
“I hung in there and I kept working to get the win. I came here to win and win at all costs, a bit of adversity is not going to stop me.
“It’s an unbelievable experience, I can’t thank Eddie Hearn and Matchroom enough for giving me this opportunity, it’s unbelievable.
“It didn’t happen the way that I wanted it to happen but that’s boxing. I’ve just gotta keep working hard and go hard for my dreams.
“He’s a tough guy and I knew that going into the fight. I was expecting a hard fight and he gave me that.”
