BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Racism is being declared a public health emergency in Burlington.

Mayor Miro Weinberger, members of the Vermont Racial Justice Alliance, and 30-plus participating organizations will make the announcement at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

They’ll also address immediate action being taken to fix race-based health disparities and ways to get rid of systemic racism in Chittenden County.

The announcement will be on Church Street outside of City Hall.
