SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – California State CIF has released their new calendar for various sports amid the coronavirus pandemic.
It proposed an open start date, with a “fall” and “spring” season that mixes the traditional calendar. The open start date allows each section to decide when they can start their season.
State CIF just mandated a season end date for each sport, listed on the chart below.
KUSI’s Brandon Stone broke down the largest headlines from state guidelines:
-“Summer” rules will be extended from when practice is safe to each section’s start of the year
-You can play for your club and high school team in the same year. That’s a huge shift.
Bottom line? The fall is not canceled, just moving to later in the year.
Sports on the move:
Girls Golf / Fall to Spring
Girls Tennis / Fall to Spring
Basketball / Winter to Spring
Soccer / Winter to Spring
Wrestling / Winter to Spring
Girls Water Polo / Winter to Fall
Boys Volleyball / Spring to Fall
CIF San Diego Section has full schedule control for Field Hockey, lacrosse, Gymnastics and Cheer.
