The Union Health Ministry has determined to depute a high-level multi-disciplinary staff to Mumbai to take inventory of the upsurge in measles circumstances within the metropolis. The staff will help the state well being authorities in instituting public well being measures and facilitate the operationalisation of requisite management and containment measures.

The three-member Central staff includes consultants from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), New Delhi, Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC), New Delhi and Regional Office for Health and Family Welfare, Pune.

The staff is headed by Dr Anubhav Srivastava, Deputy Director Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), NCDC.

The staff may even undertake discipline visits to analyze the outbreak and help the state Health Department in public well being measures, administration tips and protocols to handle the growing circumstances of measles reported in Mumbai.
